Do some motorcycles grow on you over time?

I think back when Ducati released the 999. I saw it in the magazines, saw it at the 2002 Cycle World motorcycle show, and no matter what, I never liked the looks of the bike. A year later, in 2003, I started to really like the 999. It had grown on me, it looked better than ever. And even today, I think the 999 is one of the best looking motorcycles to ever come out of Ducati, better looking than the 1098, better looking than the DesmoRR.

Are there any motorcycles you initially did not like and now they've grown on you and you do like them? What changed?

MTS, for sure, when I first saw it I though that was not to be an Ducati, what a bike so... so... so germany styled... I really turned my nose on that non street red tower... But than I rode one, and geez... What a real Duc!!! And than they made it 1100, than 1200, and the pikes peak is something I really will have some day.

I have to honestly say that I don't like the looks of some and never will but they are all fun to ride.
I never pass up a chance to try a bike out.

Same, I love to drive and ride anything, but can honestly say the worst motorcycle I ever rode was a Harley VROD, did 700km's on it and couldn't give it back fast enough, I'd rather ride a Hyosung...

My wife and I took out a Night Rod at Mid-Ohio Vintage MC days and I thought it was nice but I didn't like the sound and you had to muscle through the corners.
I took out a 1700V-Max at Americade and I was impressed. Though heavy, it's torque was instantaneous and massive. I like it.

hmm, difficult this, i'm not a fan of harleys, nor am i a fan of a japanese harley clone, sure they have their place, i view them as man jewellery, and the copies are the cubic zirconia of man jewellery.....

Japanese sports bikes (had more than a few of these) are efficient, fast, fun, but lack character, although, if you just want fast kicks they're the ticket i guess.

then i rode a ducati, wasn't mine, i was offered a ride if i could kick it. no problem, well, kinda, i kicked it so i got to ride it, a darmah, only ridden jap bikes until then but it was a religious experience for me, i loved it, big, heavy, wide bars, hardly sporty but man the torque, the noise, i was in love and had to have it, haven't owned another brand since.

do ducati make ugly bikes? yes, some are, and sorry duc, there is no way a 999 is a better looking bike than a 1098 but to each their own, the apollo was ugly, the multi was/is ugly and i'm no fan of 750F1's or sport classics, including the paul smart but i'm willing to bet they're all great fun to ride, they all sound great and i've never ever met a ducati owner who wasn't at the very least enthusiastic about their bike and the brand.

paul.
p.s the 888 is the SEXIEST ducati ever made, period!
