Just over a week ago I took possession of a three year old Diavel (registered July 2011), with 3,250 miles on the clock. It has a few upgrades from stock, including a Termignoni exhaust system. I've covered just over 300 miles on it this week and really like the bike. However yesterday, on a quiet country road, I was coming round a corner while slowing down to stop at temporary traffic lights. As I shifted down from 3rd to 2nd, the engine shut down completely, with the oil pressure light and full panel of lights coming on. I was able to pull in the clutch and coast to a halt just before the traffic lights. Tried to start it, it was dead, didn't even turn over. Eventually, after several attempts, it burst into life as normal. Having looked through the forum, I get the picture that this is not an isolated case. And that maybe it could require a system reboot or that possibly it missed out on a couple of system updates in 2011. Just wondering if anyone had this problem and then had the system updates, and if so did it solve the problem?

If it just died and all the lights were on it sounds like a stall, but the not starting again is odd, stalling can be cured by turning the rear air bleed in a half turn.

Mine used to stall when gearing down too. After about 5,000 km on the clock it started to get better and now at 8,000 km the problem is gone

Mine has also shut completely down while gearing down. It's done it about 5 times in the past year. I have a 2013.

We're any of you guys in 2nd gear and coming down from high rpms? If so, it may be a shift drum issue. Can be fixed by the dealership under warranty.

Shift drum issue is the bike dropping into neutral from second when 2nd is under decel load, not stalling.

Igetafix you have a diavel gen 1 or gen 2? I've benn told that this uasually happens when you use the regular air filter ( instead of the dp one) and it gets all dirty with dust ![]() |
